Posted on Robert AlmandTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very responsive and great customer service. Did a great job clearing landPosted on Willard EisenhouserTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Chris and his team cleared around .25 acres of small trees and thick brush, maybe around 6” diameter and smaller using their grinding system. No large equipment on site. When done just small wood chips and small chunks. Kinda like pine bark mulch. lol Finished in less that a day. Totally satisfied. Probably have them back to clear another lot.Posted on Joshua ThompsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Easy to work with and professional. They got back to us very quickly and were able to come out the next weekend. We're planning on building and needed a cluster of small stumps grinded. Not only did they do that, they also got all of the surrounding roots to ensure we were set.Posted on Keith HarrisTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Highly recommend!Posted on Carolyn PalmerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dominick with DC tree cutting is excellent, great work, wonderful staff, professional and word can not express my gratitude for the service that was rendered to me. Regards Carolyn PalmerPosted on Teresa Taylor (Terry)Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. These guys are great. Chris and Chris came out very quickly to do an estimate. We had a huge pecan tree, dying pine tree, 3 dying dogwoods, several holly bushes, and other miscellaneous trimming taken care of. Also, spoke to Anthony with questions that were answered completely. The quote I received was very reasonable for all that we had done. I did not get the names of the rest of the crew that came but these guys work great together and are very hard working. I hardly saw them take a break. Clean up was amazing (and it was a lot!) Will not hesitate to call them again. Did not get the stumps ground but may call them out later to do this.

Tree Removal North Carolina FAQs
Quick answers people actually search for—cost, permits, storms, insurance, and safety.
Tree removal in North Carolina often lands between $300 and $2,500, depending on the tree’s height/diameter, access, and how risky the removal is (near homes, fences, septic lines, or power lines). Small trees are usually straightforward. Large trees or tight spaces require rigging (and sometimes a crane), which raises the price. Storm-damage and emergency removals can also affect cost. The most accurate number comes from an on-site estimate.
In many residential situations, no permit is required. But some cities, historic districts, HOAs, or protected/tree-canopy rules can apply—especially for large trees or removals near waterways and easements. When in doubt, check your city/county rules (or HOA guidelines) before cutting.
Yes—this is where professional removal matters. Crews can remove trees in sections using rigging, ropes, and controlled drops to protect your roof, siding, and landscaping. If a tree is touching or tangled in active power lines, the utility provider may need to handle that portion first for safety.
After hurricanes and severe storms in North Carolina, emergency calls are usually triaged. Trees blocking driveways, damaging structures, or creating an immediate safety hazard get prioritized first. Response time depends on storm intensity and volume, but a reputable company will communicate ETA clearly and focus on making the site safe fast.
Often, yes—if the tree falls due to a covered event (like wind or lightning) and causes damage to a structure (home, garage, fence, etc.). If a tree falls without damaging anything, coverage may be limited or not included. Check your policy and document storm damage with photos before cleanup when possible.
In North Carolina, removals commonly include storm-damaged pines, mature oaks with decay or structural issues, and brittle ornamentals that split easily. The “right” approach depends on species, lean, root health, canopy weight, and proximity to structures.
Tree removal can be done year-round. Many homeowners prefer late fall through winter because trees are dormant and access can be easier (less canopy and less impact on surrounding plants). That said—hazard trees don’t wait for the “best” season. If it’s unsafe, it’s time.
Most professional removals include debris cleanup. You can usually choose options like hauling everything off-site, cutting logs to manageable sizes, chipping limbs into mulch, and adding stump grinding if you want the stump gone too. Always confirm what’s included in the quote.
Common warning signs include a tree that’s leaning suddenly, large dead limbs, cracks in the trunk, mushrooms/fungus at the base, hollow sounds, or roots lifting and heaving the soil. If you’re unsure, a professional assessment can confirm whether it’s a removal situation or a trim/support situation.
North Carolina doesn’t have one single statewide “tree removal license” for all situations, but you should still only hire crews who are properly insured—at minimum, general liability and workers’ compensation where applicable. Ask for proof of insurance before work begins. It’s the easiest way to avoid expensive headaches.
